Williamson was at that point set to miss the third game on Wednesday, and with the main Test against South Africa under three weeks away, Stead said his star hitter would pass on the last two games too.

Tim Seifert is supposed to supplant Williamson in the batting line, with Stead demonstrating Seifert was at that point set to supplant Devon Conway as wicketkeeper at some stage in the series.
